Bacterial infections
The most commonly transmitted bacterial infections in the UAE. All are curable with antibiotics once identified.
Chlamydia trachomatis
The most frequently diagnosed bacterial STI worldwide. Usually silent — most people have no symptoms at all, which is why it is routinely screened after any new partner.

Neisseria gonorrhoeae
Gonorrhoea
Often found alongside chlamydia. Can infect the genital tract, rectum and throat, so site-specific sampling matters if there has been oral or anal exposure.

Syphilis
Treponema pallidum
A staged infection that can be symptom-free for years while remaining transmissible. Screened by antibody testing, with confirmatory titres if reactive.

Mycoplasma genitalium
An increasingly recognised cause of urethritis and pelvic inflammation that standard screens miss. Worth including with persistent symptoms and a negative basic panel.

Ureaplasma urealyticum / parvum
Commensal organisms that can cause irritation, discharge and fertility concerns when overgrown. Reported with the organism identified.

Mycoplasma hominis
Associated with bacterial vaginosis and post-partum infection. Usually ordered alongside ureaplasma when investigating recurrent symptoms.

HPV screening
Human papillomavirus is the most common STI in the world and usually clears on its own — but the high-risk genotypes are the ones linked to cervical and other cancers, so what matters is knowing which type you carry.
HPV high-risk screen (14 genotypes)
hr-HPV
Detects the 14 high-risk HPV genotypes including 16 and 18, reported with 16/18 identified separately because they carry the highest risk. The standard first-line cervical screening test for women 25 and over.

HPV extended genotyping (28 types)
Full high-risk and low-risk genotype breakdown, naming every type detected. Useful for follow-up after a previous positive result, for tracking whether the same type persists, and for men or partners wanting a complete picture.

HPV + cytology co-test
HPV with Pap smear
HPV genotyping run alongside cervical cytology, so you get both the virus status and the cell changes in one collection. Requires a clinician-collected sample at the clinic.

Trichomonas vaginalis
The most common curable non-viral STI globally, and a common cause of discharge and irritation that routine screens leave out.

Gardnerella vaginalis
Bacterial vaginosis
Not sexually transmitted as such, but the most common reason for a change in odour or discharge — and easily mistaken for an STI.

- Turnaround is counted from the moment the laboratory receives your sample, not from when you order.
- Testing too early can produce a false reassurance. The window column shows the earliest point each test is reliable; message us if you are unsure and we will advise on timing.
- Individual tests are available, but a panel is almost always cheaper than ordering the same infections separately.
- A reactive or positive result is never sent by link alone — a clinician calls you privately to explain it and arrange treatment.

An unbranded kit is delivered to your door with illustrated instructions, or you take a clinic slot in Sharjah if you prefer a clinician to collect. Most STI tests use urine or a self-collected swab; syphilis and hepatitis need a small blood sample. HPV cytology co-testing is clinic-only.

What your result will say
Nothing detected
Your report confirms each infection tested was not detected. If you tested very soon after an exposure, we tell you the exact date to retest so you are not falsely reassured by a window-period result.
A bacterial infection detected
Chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, mycoplasma, ureaplasma and trichomonas are all curable. A clinician calls you privately, arranges the correct antibiotic course, and advises on partner notification and when it is safe to have sex again.
A viral infection detected
Hepatitis B, hepatitis C and herpes are managed rather than cured — and hepatitis C is curable in most cases with a short modern course. You are referred into follow-up care with the results already in hand.
High-risk HPV detected
A positive HPV result is common and is not a diagnosis of cancer. We report which genotype was found, explain whether it is one of the higher-risk types (16 or 18), and set the follow-up interval — usually cytology or a repeat genotype test in 12 months to see whether it has cleared.
Worth knowing
Turnaround is counted from when the laboratory receives your sample, not from when you order.
Testing too early is the single most common mistake — message us with the date of exposure and we will tell you the earliest reliable test date.
